Martin Meckbach's guitar building goes back to the mid-90s - always aiming to combine tasteful aesthetics, inspiring sound and best playability in timeless guitars.
View moreI build high-quality acoustic guitars by hand in my workshop in Diez an der Lahn in Rhineland-Palatinate.
I see musical instruments as a tool for music makers that stands between the performer and the music. If my guitar recedes into the background when I play, the music can flow unhindered and the interpretation can flourish, then I have done my job well. I make guitars with the most comfortable playability and expressive sound possible and strive for tasteful, simple and timeless aesthetics.
As a trained plucked instrument maker, I build my own guitar models by hand. Workshop impressions…
Current models include the small Meckbach Parlor, the larger Steelstring M-1, and the classical concert guitar.

I have been building guitars professionally since 1997: I completed my apprenticeship at the Albert & Müller master workshop in Aarbergen, Taunus, Germany, which I completed in 2000 with the luthier’s examin. This was followed by further time at A&M, participation in the professional competitions of the chambers of crafts (I won, 1st prize Germany) and various master courses. I also worked for guitar manufacturers such as Höfner, Gibson, Hagstrom, Walden and others in sales and marketing over the years.
In 2015 I founded the specialist store “Gitarren Meckbach” in Berlin with an attached workshop, where I trained an apprentice as a fretted instrument maker and organized small, fine chamber concerts with wonderful musicians.
At Gitarren Meckbach, the focus increasingly shifted to building my own guitar models. Dealing with guitars from various well-known manufacturers and the experience of the repair store were enormously helpful, as was, of course, the contact with professional musicians and colleagues.
In 2023, I moved the workshop to its new location in Diez an der Lahn in Rhineland-Palatinate. Since then, I have dedicated myself to building my own guitar models here.
